Janae Hunderman

Director, Career and Workforce

Janae Hunderman is a dynamic leader and coach passionate about empowering individuals and organizations to thrive. As Director of Career and Workforce at Fort Lewis College, she leverages her expertise in workforce development, program innovation, and career navigation to bridge education and industry.

As a Certified Professional Coach, Janae helps clients achieve career clarity, leadership confidence, and intentional lifestyle design through creative problem-solving and practical strategies.

Previously, Janae launched the Workforce Resilience Program for the Colorado Community College System, fostering rural business partnerships and expanding workforce training. Her tenure with the Colorado Workforce Development Council saw her champion statewide career-readiness initiatives and bring innovative solutions to education systems. She also founded the Business & Education Connection to enhance work-based learning for Durango-area high school students and led impactful career programs for many years as a career counselor and advisor at Animas High School.

A former National Leadership Fellow with the Association for Career and Technical Education and a Colorado Governor’s Coaching Corp participant, Janae is dedicated to consistent learning and is recognized as a thought leader in career development, workforce strategy, and rural community advocacy.

Outside of work, Janae enjoys the outdoors, volunteers with Leadership La Plata, and plays electric cello with a local band.
