Director of Employer Relations

Elizabeth Bussian

I work in FLC Career Services in Employer Relations helping connect employers to FLC students and alumni for internships and jobs. There is so much opportunity in the workforce and FLC talent to match. It’s great when Career Services can help students develop a career plan and find experiences that make a difference in their lives and community. Making connections and networking are at the core of my job, and I love what we are doing to change the culture at FLC so that every student has an opportunity to exercise their education in the field.

For my Bachelor’s, I studied French and then International Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Early on in my career, I worked as an International Export Sales Manager, a Company Liaison Officer, and a Business Development Manager for two global information management companies. In Durango, I have worked in Advertising Sales and all things Fort Lewis College from marketing and event planning to the best job ever now, Career Services Employer Relations!

I have two adult children who are out in the world making their way working, creating and living. I came to Durango because of the outdoors and do all that is so exceptional here like Nordic skiing, cycling and open water swimming.

Most interesting/unusual job:

My most challenging job was in Germany for two years where I worked with distributors all over Europe. Luckily, I had decent language skills. I can’t wait to get back to travel so that I can experience other cultures, see art, speak other languages, taste food and be with people.
